8th April 2020

Dear Parents and Carers,

Update on the National Voucher Scheme – Children Eligible for Benefit-Related Free School Meals Easter Holiday Payment

The Department for Education (DFE) has developed a national voucher scheme to ensure children eligible for benefits-related free school meals can continue to access support if they are not in school.

Following further guidance from the DFE yesterday, I can confirm that vouchers will cover the Easter Holidays.

The school will issue every child eligible for benefits-related free school meals a voucher to the value of £15 each week, this will amount to £30 per child for the Easter Holiday period. Please note this is benefit-related Free School Meals and NOT Universal Infant Free School Meals.

We are beginning to process the first round of vouchers and we hope that these vouchers will be with you by the end of the Easter Holidays. The voucher for the Easter Holidays will be for £30 per child for the 2-week period.

Please note that we have over 300 vouchers to process and there have been some issues with the Edenred website so please be patient. Whilst we have uploaded the vouchers today, it may take a few days or a week for you to receive your e-voucher.

From Monday 20th April (until further notice), the school will issue every child eligible for benefit-related free school meals with a voucher to the value of £15 each week that can be used towards the purchase of food and groceries. Again, these may take a few days or a week for you to receive.

This will be sent as an “eCode” and emailed directly to the Parent/Carer.  The eCode can be used to choose an eGift card and can be redeemed from a range of supermarkets.

Further information about the scheme can be found from the following website:

https://www.edenred.co.uk/Documents/DfE/DfE_FreeSchoolMeals_ParentCarerFAQs.pdf

We will use a single contact email address per household. If you have more than one child eligible for benefit-related free school meals, you will get £15 per child per week so the total value of the eCode will reflect this.

If you have any enquiries please email the school using the following address:

Yours sincerely,

Mr Andrew Griffin
